IPTV catch-up: how to watch programmes you missed
Many IPTV services record their channels for a few days. With the right player you can scroll back in the guide and press play.
How catch-up works
Catch-up (sometimes called timeshift or archive) means your provider keeps recordings of some channels, usually for 1 to 7 days. The player asks the provider for the recording of a programme by its start time and length.
Whether a channel has catch-up is up to your provider. With Xtream Codes it's marked on the channel (tv_archive) or on each programme. M3U playlists mark it with catchup attributes.
Watching catch-up in RIPTV
- Open Live TV and go to the guide.
- Press Left (or swipe back) to move back in time. RIPTV loads up to 7 days of past guide data.
- Programmes you can watch again are marked. Select one and choose Play.
- Press Back to jump to what's on now, and Back again to return to the channel list.
If a programme won't play
- Check your provider records that channel: not every channel has catch-up, and many keep only a few days.
- Very recent programmes can take a few minutes to become available.
- If other apps play catch-up from your provider but RIPTV doesn't, send a problem report from Settings > Help & feedback so we can add support for your provider's format.
A note on what RIPTV is
RIPTV is a player. It doesn't come with channels, films or series: you add the IPTV service you already subscribe to. Only use services you have the right to watch.
