How to watch IPTV on an Android phone or tablet

RIPTV works on Android phones and tablets as well as TVs. Here's how to install it and add the IPTV service you already have.

Install RIPTV on your phone or tablet

  1. Open the Play Store and search for RIPTV.
  2. Choose RIPTV, then Install. It's free.
  3. When it's installed, choose Open. Google Play keeps it up to date from then on.

Prefer to install the APK yourself?

  1. On your phone or tablet, open your web browser and go to riptv.app.
  2. Choose Download APK.
  3. When you open the file, Android asks whether to allow your browser to install unknown apps. Choose Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
  4. Choose Install, then Open.

Is the "unknown apps" warning normal?

Yes, if you install the APK. Android shows it for any app that doesn't come from the Play Store. The permission only applies to the browser you used, and you can turn it off again afterwards in Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps. Menu names vary slightly between phone makers.

Add your IPTV service

  1. Open RIPTV. Choose the server login (Xtream Codes) and enter the server, username and password from your provider, or choose M3U playlist and paste your playlist link.
  2. Choose Connect. RIPTV loads your channels, TV guide, films and series, and adds posters, descriptions and trailers.
  3. Long-press any channel to add it to your favourites so it's always near the top.

What you get for free

  • Live TV with the full TV guide, favourites and recent channels.
  • Films and series with posters, descriptions and trailers.
  • Search, Continue Watching and My List.
  • One provider and one profile, with no sign-up or card.

What Premium adds on a phone

  • Picture-in-picture, so a channel keeps playing in a small window while you use other apps.
  • Chromecast casting to send what you're watching to your TV.
  • Downloads, so you can watch films and episodes offline.
  • Sync of progress, My List and favourites with your other devices.
  • Set up a TV: enter the code shown on your TV and your login is copied across, end-to-end encrypted.

A note on what RIPTV is

RIPTV is a player. It doesn't come with channels, films or series: you add the IPTV service you already subscribe to. Only use services you have the right to watch.
