Privacy policy

Last updated 1 October 2026

RIPTV is a media player for IPTV services you already subscribe to. It's made by the RIPTV team (“we”). This policy explains what the app and riptv.app collect, why, and your choices. We don't show ads, we don't sell data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

What stays on your device

Your IPTV provider details (server, username, password or playlist link), your library, downloads and viewing history are stored on your device. Your IPTV password is never sent to us. When you use “Set up a TV”, your phone sends your settings to your TV end-to-end encrypted: our server only relays data it can't read.

What we collect and why

DataWhy
A random device code, device name/model, app version, TV or phone, and country (worked out from your connection; we don't keep your IP address)To run the Premium trial and licences, show your devices in Settings so you can manage them, and support the app.
How much the app is used: which days it was opened, and the total minutes watched (Live TV, and films and episodes). Totals only: never what you watchedTo see how people use RIPTV and what to improve.
A household code made up by the app, a one-way code derived from your IPTV login plus your provider's web address, one-way codes of any Trakt accounts you link, and one-way codes of the last few networks the device connected from (not the addresses)To group a household's devices during the Premium trial. The one-way code can't be turned back into your login.
Licence and purchase details: plan, renewal date, and for website purchases your email address from PayPal; for store purchases the purchase reference from Google Play or AmazonTo provide what you paid for and send your licence key.
Household sync data: profiles, My List, watch progress, recent channelsTo keep your devices in step. It's encrypted on your device with a key from your licence before it's sent, so we can't read it.
If you use Invite friends: your invite code, which device's code you entered (if any), and how many friends joined and subscribedTo give you and your friends the free Premium days you earned, and to stop people using their own codes.
Crash reports, sent by the app the next time it opens after it crashes, freezes or is closed by Android for memory while on screen: what went wrong, app version, device, provider web address and the app's log (with passwords, usernames, licence keys and full web addresses removed). You can turn this off in Settings > Help & feedbackTo find and fix crashes. The same crash from several devices is kept as one report with a count.
Feedback and problem reports you choose to send, with app version, device, provider web address and, if you tick them, the last crash report and the app's log (what the app did recently: screens opened, playback, errors, connections, memory and network type; passwords, usernames, licence keys and full web addresses are removed before it's sent)To fix problems and decide what to build next.
Whether one of your devices is streaming or downloading right now, how many connections a download is using, and a one-way code derived from your IPTV provider's address and username (never your password). Kept for about two minutesSo devices on the same IPTV login share its connections fairly: whoever is watching gets a connection first, and downloads split the rest. The one-way code can't be turned back into your login.

Cookies on riptv.app

When you first arrive on riptv.app, one cookie remembers the name of the site that sent you, such as Google or Reddit, for 30 days. If you then download the app, we count one download for that site. That's all it holds: nothing about you, and it isn't shared. You can block or delete it in your browser and everything still works.

Services we use

  • Vercel and Upstash host the website and store the data above (servers in the EU/US).
  • PayPal, Google Play and Amazon handle payments. We never see your card details.
  • Trakt (if you connect it) gets your viewing activity directly from the app, under Trakt's own privacy policy.
  • Real-Debrid (website version only, if you connect it): the app talks to your Real-Debrid account directly to list and play what's in it. Your Real-Debrid sign-in is kept on your device. If you use Set up a TV, it's passed to your TV encrypted end to end, so our server can't read it.
  • Title information and artwork come from Trakt, TMDB and MDBList through our server; picture search uses Pixabay and Openverse. These requests don't include personal data.
  • Skip-intro times come from TheIntroDB and IntroDB, looked up by the title's public ID.

How long we keep it

Device and licence records are kept while you use RIPTV and for up to 2 years after a device was last seen, then deleted. Sync data is replaced each time you sync and deleted with your licence. Feedback is kept until it's resolved or deleted; an app log sent with a problem report is deleted after 120 days. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires. Encrypted daily backups of our records are kept for 30 days, so anything deleted is gone from backups within a month too.

Your choices and rights

You can remove devices from Settings → Subscription, disconnect Trakt (and Real-Debrid), and delete your downloads and profiles in the app. To get a copy of your data or have it deleted, see Delete your data or email us. If you're in the UK or EU you have rights under data protection law, including access, correction and deletion, and you can complain to your data protection authority.

Children

RIPTV isn't directed at children. Kids profiles are set up by a parent on the parent's device; we don't collect information about children.
